What is the difference between N90 and N95 masks?

Both N90 and N95 are protection levels in the national mask standard. Different levels of dust resistance represent the protection and filtering capabilities of masks, which are the ability to block dust, bacteria, and viruses. N90 can block 90% of the dust from the mask. N95 is more resistant, and can resist more than 95% of dust, bacteria, and viruses.

So what kind of standard does N90 represent? Let’s first look at this N, N represents oil intolerance, which means that this mask cannot filter oily particles, but it is more effective for non-oily particles to filter dust and haze.

So what is the measurement standard of N90? That is, at a certain concentration, the particle concentration inside the mask should be at least 90% lower than the particle concentration outside the mask. Let me give you an example, that is, if there are 100 particles in the air and you breathe inside the mask, these particles may enter the mask along with the air, but no more than 10 particles can enter the mask. At least 90 must be filtered out.

Then the N95 standard is the same as N90. The particle concentration inside the mask is lower than the particle concentration outside the mask at least 95%.

So the difference between N90 and N95 lies in the ability to block dust. If you need stronger protection, you need to choose a higher grade mask.
