Can N95 masks be reused by spraying alcohol?

Affected by the pneumonia epidemic caused by the new crown virus, the use of particulate protective masks (sometimes called disposable masks) has become one of the topics of great concern and heated discussion among consumers. Here, we still want to remind everyone again that for particulate protective masks, we do not recommend disinfecting them in any way, including spraying alcohol. If the mask is dirty, damaged, or the resistance rises causing difficulty in breathing during the use of the mask, the mask needs to be replaced. Factors affecting the service life of masks include damaged nose clips, loose headbands, deformed masks, odorous or dirty masks, and increased breathing resistance. When this happens, it should be replaced in time.

In addition, since viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms are infectious, there may be some infectious substances on the used protective masks. If you touch the surface of the contaminated mask with your hands, the pathogenic microorganisms may be carried to other places (such as door handles), or get infected by touching your mouth and nose with dirty hands. So make sure to clean your hands before and after putting on the mask.

If you plan to reuse the mask, you need to store the mask in a clean, dry and away from any place that may be contaminated. Particulate protective masks cannot be reused after cleaning or disinfection.

Therefore, it is the safest way to properly discard masks that have been in contact with infectious substances after one-time use.
